Dolphin 7.5 Update

Hi

After I update my site from 7.0.4 to  7.0.5 a lot of things stop working on my live site

I have some mods install on my site like game mod, profile like myspace all these files I have to edit to make the mods to work all the code has been remove from the se files now I have to put my back up back to 7.0.4 because after the hard work working on my site editing files and changing language everything go back to default my mods stop working because the code i add  on some files like  BxBaseProfileView, Profile, Member and Others files inside template/base/script they all gone I thing is a wasting time for us  editing files to get some modules to work some modules you don't need edit files because some developers they make a install mod so people don't need to edit any files and others developers theu make some modules for a big price and you have to edit some files and some time you can  do something bad to your live site is you don't know what you doing

The second problem I have after I dit the update from 7.0.4 to 7.0.5

I can't import any language now because i'm getting the following fatal error trying to install any of these language for no reason

* English (US)

* Español

* Português (Brasil)
* Français (France)
* Deutsch
* Italiano
* العربية
* हिन्दी
* 中文(简体)
* 日本語

i'm getting the following Fatal error when I try to go to any page on the site

Fatal error: Call to undefined function bx_encode_url_params() in/home/content/XXX/XXX/html/templates/base/scripts/BxBaseMenu.php on line 358

There is no Dolphin 7.4   Nor is there a Dolphin 7.5

Get it right next time.

The function you are missing (bx_encode_url_params) is new to dolphin 7.0.5 and exist in inc/utils.inc.php

This error would indicate that this file did not get replaced during the upgrade.

Re upload this file and make sure the old file gets over written.

Most problems with ugrades are caused by this. The upgrade instructions do state that you must make sure all old files get replaced.

Step 1: Download and extract Dolphin-Patch-v.7.0.5 and upload its files to your current installation, replacing all old files. Make sure that old files were REALLY replaced - site can become nonfunctional at all if old files are still in place.

Oh, and i forgot to mention.

Weather or not the mod requires code changes or not depends on what the module does. Modules that need to change the way dolphin works will require code changes. That just the way it is. And the way it always will be.

are you saying this is the file i'm missing call utils.inc.php

when I did the update I follow the last step I got from the update package

and I replace the files 3 time to make sure everything is there but now you telling me this I see wat is the problem now

No.

I am not saying the file is missing. I am saying the function is missing. That file contains that function. D7.0.4 did not have that function but 7.0.5 does so logic would indicate that the inc/utils.inc.php on the server is still the old version.

Check the file on your server manually then to make sure. Search it for that function.

I found when I upload that file using Filezilla is not leting me upload the file I get this

Critical file transfer error

I have to replace the file by going to my hosting panel File manager and upload and replace now the language is working fine

Most likley the permissions are not allowing writes.

Anyhow. If filezilla has logs, go through them and see if this happened to any other files. Because proper updates to the files is critical to the proper operation of the site.

Man if HL wasn't around these forums I would have lost all hope for this platform and dropped it a long time ago. I could have my entire site explode, only to come here and happen upon one of your posts - having my temperament change from stressfully angry to comedically optimistic in an instant. Seriously, it's apparent that you've been through the pain and anguish that most of us can only dream of experiencing, and it's reassuring to know that above all of that you can still get the platform to function to your liking - or at least enough to stick around.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm trying to be genuine with this post and even though you may come off as a jerk to some, I truly appreciate what you have done for this community even in the short duration that i've been here.

and my upgrade patch work fine the only problen when I upload the patch the file utils.inc.php

never got upload to inc/ I have to upload the file from my hosting cpanel using the file manger

But everything is working beautiful

usually you should change the file permissions for /inc

if you remember when we install the script, one of the last steps is to chmod /inc to 555

make sure you change it to writable b4 trying to ftp up the files...

How can you guys screw this up so bad? I use the file manager in my CPanel. I upload the zip file, I highlight it in the directory, then click "extract".

I have NEVER had it fail to overwrite a file. I open a second window with the instructions right where i can see them. I follow each step and it has ALWAYS worked perfectly for me.

I know Boonex can be a difficult script but i gotta tell ya, My 90 year old granny can do this update with her eyes closed.

PS, and HL is right! There is no 7.4 or 7.5!! Therein lies your problem creator, your inability to pay attention to details!

Ok, so what you are saying is FileZilla TOLD you there was an error and instead of investigating the error, you completely ignored it to instead come here and write a big, long post about all your troubles and how all your mods are all screwed up now because you did an update where is was specifically outlined that certain modifications would be affected and you would have to go in and re-apply the changes, that If I am not mistaken, it says RIGHT IN THE INSTALL TEXT FILE to MAKE SURE that all the files are properly OVERWRITTEN.

I (or we, depending on whether you're paying attention or not) decided to chide you about the use of the terminology 7.4 when in fact it's 7.04 which in my brain tells me that this is an indicator of just how much attention you actually do pay to the projects you are working on. I am trying my hardest to make my paragraphs match yours in an essence to make my very long winded, short on matter, point about why no one really wants to answer your ill worded and abrasive posts.

Yes, I guess it is a bit childish and for that I apologize (just a little). If I thought you really were trying to 'learn something' as you say, I would be far more inclined to offer help, instead, I get the feeling you are looking for a reason to continue an ongoing love-hate (more hate than love) relationship with this software and all the people who do waste their time trying to help you.

when I upload the files i make sure all the files has been upload I dit this 3 times trust me but

I never know the file utils.inc.php has been replace right after Deano tell me i'm missing this function on this file call utils.inc.php so I try to upload only this file to see if the Fatal error get fix but when I upload only that file Filezilla don't let me I don't know why maybe a folder permision is blocking the file so me upload the file via my hosting cpanel using the file manager and everything start working perfect
