website appearance changes

How hard is it to make very simple changes to the appearance of your site themedilounge Simple color changes, change the color of tabs. Is it something you shouldn't mess with? I can basically copy and paste code and change color codes etc. Should I stay a way from this? Any suggestions? If I knew exactly what I wanted I would just pay someone to do this.

So no one has any input on how to change the color of you tabs or anything else on D7 color wise?

Most of the tabs are image files. Located in the templates images folder. You can change the color of those tabs by editing the images.

Most of the images are in templates\base\images.

The top menu images for example start with tm_item. So for example tm_item_right.png is the right side to the top menu item tab.

Text, border and background colors are located in the CSS files.

I recommend that you also look into downloading Firefox with the Firebug extension, which will allow you to easily track down anything you'd like to edit.

Ok was able to find files...how do I edit the image. I don't have an option for this in cPanel. Do I need to change permissions? I was thinking there would be color code in there somewhere but no. Thanks

Sorry. Not that simple.

You need to edit image files locally on your own machine with image editing software like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or something similar. I must be a somewhat decent paint program that can handle transparent png files.

CSS and template editing is best done offline as well with proper software.

GIMP: for those who can't afford the nice things in life.

Also, empty your ./cache and ./cache_public directories, or else changes may not become noticeable.

Yea. I forgot about GIMP. I tried it once. After using Paint Shop Pro for so many years, i just could not get used to the interface.

Download the image, edit it, save it, re-upload it, overwrite it.

Try directly navigating to the image in your web browser, then clicking "Save."

Has anyone every thought about writing a book on some simple site changes? With as many downloads that there are I'm sure people like myself would pay good money for one instead of keeping up the contributors all night.Cool

I think the active tab in that menu is "tm_cm_item_center_act.png" and the hover is handled by css in top_menu.css maybe? I can't check right now...sorry

Medfly,

All the images you've circled in red are:

tm_bg.png

tm_cm_bg.png

tm_cm_item_left.png

tm_cm_item_center.png

tm_cm_item_right.png

They'll make sense once you see them and then look at your template. It took me a while to realize that tm_bg is the background image for the whole top menu.
