upgrading site to 7.1 language issues!

Decided to ressurect and old site I used to run which was on 7.0.8!

Got to 7.1 and have hit my first hurdle...

All language keys need to be re-compiled, only thing is in the lang section of admin, there is no compile button!

I have other 7.1 sites, and underneath where you select your lang to compile is a big button clearly labeled 'COMPILE'

On the upgrading site this is simply not there!

Is there another way to do this?

Hmmm other buttons are also 'missing'. 

Cannot un-install or install any modules as the 'install' 'remove' buttons are missing!

Got em. changed template to ALT and they appeared!

So that means it is a template issue.

changing template from uni to alt just rewrites the lang files I guess. 

Then changed back to uni and they are all fine.
