even though you may uninstall the membership module, it will still show membership options when going to settings. It is retarded, I know. Default membership level is Standard unless you enable the promotional membership. You determine what the membership level can do by clicking Actions next to the membership level and selecting what it is you would like that membership to be able to do.

The membership module is not the same a membership levels. They are two different things.

The membership module is what allows your members to purchase the various memberships you add. It provides the integration between the memberships themselves and the shopping cart.

You cannot remove the actual memberships. They are required for dolphin to function.

It depends on if your have the option to use Promotional memberships enabled or not.

Guest(non-member) are just that. Guests visiting your site that have not signed up yet or not logged in.

Promotional is used if you have promotional enabled. It is normally used as a trial. When that time is up it reverts to standard.

Standard is the default for all new accounts if promotional is disabled and becomes the default if promotional is enabled but the promotional time is used up.
