responsive site versus mobile app

I have tested the mobile app and i must say that it is pretty simple and you can't use it as a full website app!

I mean most of it it's read only and not really interactive...

I think that even with the EVO Wall and other 3rd party mods it's still pretty simple.

So i think that building a responsive website is better for all members to use or am I wrong here?

please advise and share your idea on this

I pretty much feel the same, and have opted to go the responsive route....

Nothing much against the apps, but want members to be able to do more like they would from desktop experience....

But definitely the RIGHT responsive design comes into play, and so far my personal favorites are MasterTheme's HyperNova and bsetec's Palcom.

Palcom is a recent one I've been testing...it's FREE....and something I think maybe they focused on is making sure that form fields display better on small devices....at least that's my impression anyway.

Hope you find a responsive design you like...there's quite a few, and I've tested most of them, and all have their PROs and CONs

For me- Menus are an area that comes to mind, and each design handles menus differently.

I have personally touched on this subject MANY of times. You can read some of my thoughts regarding Mobile apps and Responsive templates here:

Thanx so far for your reply...

It think that we should ask the responsive template builders to focus on one standard that is not just good but GREAT!!
Just good isn't enough anymore if we want dolphin sites to become GREAT.
I rather pay $100 for a GREAT responsive template then $50 dollars for a template that is less then great.

So template builders... build a GREAT responsive template and make us happy...

it's 2014 now and it's time to move forward...

Or give us a mobile app that has more functions and let us interact the same way as we do on the website.

You know, one problem I find over and over is that Video Zone and Game Zone does NOT play nice with some template designs. I haven't seen one responsive design able to better manage the layout of Video Zone and Game Zone on smaller handheld devices- Bummer Frown

I know this is more because of how these modules pages were coded, and that it would be one of those things- "It was designed to work with UNI."...But I sure wish there was a responsive template that would work well with these modules. (on small devices)
