reinstall procedure to protect existing DB

So I have a problem in my store.  The guy who designed the "points to store" module is totally unresponsive so I must try to fix it myself.

I guess I need to uninstall to reinstall the whole Store module.

But problem is i have over 2500 products in the store already.

What is the best procedure you can recommend (if any) for me to reinstall the store module without losing the existing 2500 products?

All your help would be very much appreciated.

I recommend you start by making a backup. Whatever else needs doing needs to be seen.

Backing is an obvious step.

What i need to know is if I uninstall the STORE module, will all 2500 products get deleted?  If so, how can i protect the DB with the existing 2500 products?

Anybody?

most likely yes. In your module, there is an install/sql directory. This directory contains a file uninstall.sql, check that to see what gets done to the DB during uninstall

You will lose the data. I assume you are having issues with the Points for Store mod from AntonLV. What exactly is the issue you are having ?

I believe i fixed it.

For those who are stuck with the same problem :

1. make sure your cache is unchecked in all settings.

2. in your admin panel > Tools > Database backup

choose all store tables and download them.

3. uninstall module in Add/Manage.

4. reinstall module.

5. back to admin panel > Tools > Database backup

6. reupload the tables.

Done.

I noticed that some of my membership settings were changed and most items were not visible.  Simply review all membership levels to make sure store is visible to all.

Hope it helps.
