I don't understand the value of the plus keys in the search window.
Can I turn them off?

the plus keys signify that you can select another option - for multiple selecting capabilities. To turn it off, change your field type from multiple selector to just select for your search fields caredesign.net |

To turn it off, change your field type from multiple selector to just select for your search fields Search fields are based off the profile fields and can not be changed independently unless you have AntonLV's Advance Search Form: http://www.boonex.com/m/advanced-search-form It also "it allows to add an empty value to the list of values, thus allowing anyone to exclude that field from search filter by selecting an empty value". Is that the default behavior of the gender selector? I suppose there instances where the user is both male and female, but it has to be pretty rare,
My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
On the join and edit sections, the sex field is a single selector - male, female - but on the search page, the Sex field has the Looking For caption (multiple selector) - don't understand why this would be - and the I Am field is the actual Looking For field (also multiple selector). That's super retarded. I guess you could create new fields that are not multiple selectors. Or change the Looking For field in the search section to a single selector.
So, technically, you could lo looking for either a man or woman, and if you have that field in your search form, then it has to be filled in because by default there is no option of "no value, so return all", thus you would need the capability to select both options if gender is not a factor of your search. caredesign.net |
Thanks, I knew the purpose of the + keys. What didn't make any sense was why they were there... :) I will remove the multi field capability there. Peer Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |
OK- I hope I'm not losing my mind... I went to the search page. See item one searchpage.png Then I went to field selection. They are NOT multi selector. See item two. Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |
Sounds like I need Anton's Advance Search... :) Cause I have all kinds of complaints about the existing search. Peer Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |
So- somehow, whenever I go to search now for my test account... I am showing as a male looking for a male... Even thought my profile says I am a male looking for a female... Even clearing cache, logging off back on does not appear to fix this. Any ideas? Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |

Even clearing cache, logging off back on does not appear to fix this. Any ideas? That is the default value showing; the default value is male. Anton's search thingy will allow you to change that to a null value. Dolphin needs a lot of work when it comes to searching; it would be nice if someone would create a drop in replacement for Dolphin search but that might be a big project. Anton's search forms module at least allows you to build a better search form and it is relatively cheap. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Geek Gyrl- I'm sold! I will get it today... I think all would agree, Dolphin would not work without the 3rd party vendors! Thanks! Peer Peer L. Plaut Executive Director, Single Booklovers Connecting Bookworms Since 1970 |
