number of blogs displayed setting not working!

Hi,

Does anyone know how to force the blogs block on the homepage to only display, say, the last 5-10 blogs - my home page is getting longer and longer as the blogs come in!  The settings in admin for the blogs module that apparently control the number of blogs displayed doesnt appear to be working on my site.  I have set the number of blogs displayed to 5, but it shows far more than that...

Also, is there any way to make the blog block display a random assortment?  There was a work around for 7.0 but I can't find a forum response for 7.1...

To change the number of blog posts on homepage you need to set the following settings option:

Number Of Blog Posts On Site's Homepage

Try changing the number in admin to a new number and click save.  See if it changes on the home page.  If so, then set it to the number you want and click save and check to see if it is applied.  Perhaps somehow the setting is not applied.  If that does not fix the issue, then think about any module that you have recently added or other code changes.

Thanks for getting back to me guys, I think this is another example of me messing around with one part of the site without realising the wider implications in another part!  I need to backtrack through my changes again I guess...

Any ideas on creating a random viewing of blogs?  It's possible in the members block, but maybe not blogs...
