moving to bbPress

I'm moving my community to bbPress, was curious to know if anyone has developed a custom migration script for the forums data?

I was able to perform some sql queries to get my members migrated over, but I'm afraid the forums wont be that simple. Started plugging away at their example.php migration script and got to thinking that someone must have at least attempted this by now.

Interested to know your experiences if so!

I searched the market and the forum and couldn't find anything. I don't remember anyone ever talking about it in the past either.

I chose the wrong platform and tried like hell to make it work, only to find broken promises and thousands of dollars and hours wasted. I couldn't adapt the software to the changing needs of my niche and lost it.

Now it's time to re-tool and focus on what did work, unfortunately it was nothing dolphin had to offer.

I had started my community with a mash up of wordpress and phpbb, it worked incredibly well for my users but there were major performance issues. Moved to dolphin thinking it was a good idea, only to find a loss of interest likely due to an overload of mods and features and a major disconnect between social activity in dolphin vs the orca forums.

So, long story short - I've got nothing to lose and bbpress looks promising for my needs :)

I'm sorry to hear that Dolphin didn't work out for you. As for moving to bbPress, you'll need to hire somebody to transfer the data over. I don't know of anybody here who offers that kind of service.

Not necessarily interested in hiring someone. I like to think I'm capable, to an extent, it would be beneficial to compare notes is all.

They offer a migration script that seems pretty robust, but the table joins look to be a bit tricky.
