moving from sub domain to main domain

hi,

i have installed a dolphin in sub domain (and folder) called beta (beta.mysite.com [d7.1.5])

because it was for testing, now i want to move all my changing in beta to the main domain mysite.com (d7.1)

i think the step should be like this:

  1. backup main domain database
  2. uninstall the dolphin on the main domain
  3. re install dolphin on the main domain
  4. upload customized database (including main domain profiles) of the sub domain to the new domain
  5. upload folders of photos, avatars etc. of old main domain to the new main domain
  6. upload the files and folders of sub domain (customized files, external modules etc.) to the main domain

is this the right way?

i tried a test of uploading database. it was ok but when i upload the photo folder (boonex/data/files/) there were as not uploaded at all, the profile exists but the photo not.

Make sure you have updated the domain and paths in inc/header.inc.php and the cron jobs.

If I were you, I would have taken a slightly different route i.e.

Pre-requisite:

Backup the full site and database and store it outside the server if possible like your local computer.

Step-1: Change the webroot of site.com to point to the 'beta' folder e.g. /home/user/public_html/beta. That way you don't have to update any file paths and it should all work.

Step-2: Disable the sub-domain

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
