joining age problem

hi after a member joins , say he is 18 it will show 1995 on his profile , how do i change this so it shows 18 , plus the slider age has 2 buttons with numbers on lol and they both slide

Age will change with each passing year; therefore, it will have to be calculated at the time the page is built.  A simple solution would be to add a php block and calculate the members age from the date of birth.

It would appear that your age slider has a min and max setting.

I think I understand; you want a minimum age that one is allow to register; so the slider should start at that minimum age and allow one to increase it.  Of course next year they will be a year older; so if that is used to show their age; then it will increasingly be off as time goes by.  What if someone joins a month before their birthday?  Then next month they are one year older.

Explain what you wish to accomplish and we can find the best solution.

If you will go to the profile fields builder, click on "view profile" and you will see an item "Age" in the inactive box.  Drag the "Age" item up to where you want it to appear on the Profile.  That item already calculates the member's age based on their date of birth.  If I need to do screen shots, let me know.

why is there 2 sliders in my screenshot

I don't know but what I am trying to say is to remove that slider because Dolphin will give you the age of the member based on their date of birth and it will ALWAYS be correct because it is calculated and not a fixed value.

What you do is to set the minimum age that members can join; of course they can lie but you are covering your arse.  Go to your admin, go to advance settings and you will find this box:

Lowest age possible for site members:

Set the age there to the proper age; 18 or 19 if they are to be older than 18; I assume you may want 18+ which in that case set it to 18.

In the join form builder, add the date of birth field; it uses a calendar but Deano has a module where you can change it to drop down boxes.  You can also state on the form that all members must be 18 or older.  You can also include this in your ToS and have the checkbox where they state they have read the ToS; all that is to cover your arse if some one lies and puts in a fake date of birth.

Then in admin => builders => Profile Fields, at the top of the form you will see links to

join form · edit profile · view profile · search profiles

each one of those is a separate view.  click on "view profile" and there you can control what members will see when they go to view a profile.  There is an age item.  If it is not included you can drag it up to the place on the profile view you wish it to appear: most likely you would add it to the General Info section.
