how to make the homepage scroll to the side?

I am experimenting and I would like to have the homepage scroll to the right like myspace instead of scrolling down. I tried to change the maximum allowed width pixels in template settings, but it didn't change the allowed width pixels in the page builder for the homepage. Is this possible to do?

ok I got it to scroll the the side, but the service menu disappeared. Anyone know how to get it to show even though I have a wide pixel width? It seems to have vanished with the larger width.

Actually, horizontal scrolling of a web page is to be avoided if all possible.  While mice can be used for horizontal scrolling, it is still a bad idea.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I was going to do it for the homepage. Does horizontal scrolling mess anything up as far as search engines or, I don't know, anything that I don't know about? Why is it a bad idea?

Yes please why is it a bad idea? I see it done quite a bit with blocks on the home page and they are quite successful sites.  I think it is a great idea to deal with limited area...
