After three years of using Dolphin on a productive site with nearly 4k members I'll have to write down a few things which really a bugger for making money with Dolphin and have limited further investments in the software and addons:
a) limit actions on view profiles is a bad idea... own profile counts the same as profiles you have visited already today. For example, limit view profile action to three, then go to visit three friends profiles and try to access your own -> access denied, WTF?
b) - limit can be set on simple messenger and this works sufficiently except it does show the message for the blocked person (e.g. person you call has already maximum allowed connections open) but does not for the person who has the maximum connections
- instead simple messenger people start to use video messenger.. which can't be throttled at all. Of course I could disable it completely but that would mean a feature less on the site. In the end it means I can stop limiting simple messenger.
c) if actions are blocked there is just a silly "you aren't allowed" text. It should - at least - redirect to some fancy page to show memberships or whatever for members and login page for non-members, just for example. I know there are some dirty workarounds listed in the forum here but none I've found to work really smooth.
PS: same here in the forum, when you aren't logged in and try to create a topic, it just shows "access denied" without any call to action, no "sign up now" or "login here"
So what's keeping up the community are a few people who pay willingly cause they like to support it, but nearly noone who "needs" the functionality of the extended rights.
Some things might be easy to change, some might be hard. I am just telling what I can sum up after 3 years of using Dolphin (7.0 and 7.1)
