how does "befriending" work?

Hi,

If I befriend a member on my D7 site, does the recipient have to befriend me back for them to show up on my friend list?

Second, Where does the recipient of a befriending accept the invite?

Hi Scott,

If I remember correctly the other user needs to accept your befriend invitation, until then they're not confirmed as friends.

They see new friend notification in the bottom member menu ,where it says friend requests
