having dots in usernames

i know this has been asked before but some of my users have asked if its possible to have (....) dots in the username like ...wesways... does anyone know if this is possible at all?>

Doesn't seem to be supported. I have a feeling it'd work if you just removed the checking for it from the profile fields builder.
