hi all,
on my group forums page, it always says access denied ...
even though i am the admin of the site and when i logged in as a member and created a new group. the group works fine but when i try to access group's forum it says access denied.
are we supposed to create a separate forum for that perticular group manually or, should it have been created and working fine automaticaly after the creation of a new group.??
also all the privacy settings are set to public.
regards

Did you join the group that you created? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
I wrote a ticket regarding group forum privacy enhancements, but as usual, it got shoveled onto the "We don't feel like working on this" pile. (7.1 of 7.0.x) My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
yes HL
i did creat try everything. create a group on my own as admin. join it, feature it litteraly tried everything.
but id does not seem to work.
i never noticed it before but now i just got a new facebook module which can import groups from facebook and i want to use that aswell as the group forum.
also the games module have its own integration into forums. but none of these works.
its a shame that your ticket is just shoved under the pile. we should get in there and start digging it again. i will give you a hand in digging. ;-)
by the way i am guessing it does not work for anyone here ??
or please let us know if it is working on someone's site.
thanks

also there is no point of having groups, events and store integrated into forum if is not gonna work ...
its my personal opinion.

You dont have any custom Membership Levels created do you, specifically that you have created for yourself (site admin)?
So just to make sure I understand correctly, you CAN login as a regular member and view the groups forum. BUT if you login as the site admin, you cannot access the group forums?
And have you tried to login as a regular member, create a group. See if you can post a comment in the group forums. Then, logout and login as the site admin, join that group, and see if you can then access everything.
Nothing to see here |
no i dont have any membership levels.
i can access any group as admin, and normal members can access and create group aswell.
but none of us ( admin or regular members) can go to group forums at all. i created my own group as admin, everyone can use the group, post comments in group, including admin and normal member but when we click on group forum, it says access denied.
i can send you my site link in message if you want to have a look.
same thing happens with event forums, store forums, and my games forums.
any thoughts on this.
does it work on you sute zarcon ??

What is your 'Post in forum' permission set at for the group(s) where you are getting the 'access denied'? My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Are you using a public or private forum? |
everything is set to public.
i tried using fans and me only aswell.. but no change.

Mine work fine on my site. Just a stupid question here, but you do have your Forums installed right? Also, are you able to create Forum topics and post replies in the Forums area with no issues?
Can you provide us with a screenshot or something we can see?
Nothing to see here |
lolz. @ Zarcon
yes mate i aint that stupid ;-)
i have forum installed they are working fine apart from i cannot compile forums properly with my own template.
by saying cannot compile properly i mean it does compile but [[ L ]] sign stays there. if that matters.
but in that case this group forums should work in uni forum as i can compile uni forums.
i am sending you the url to my site in pm. have a look what i am talking about mate.
anyone else want to see it in action please let me know i will send you the link

Can anyone write tickets for Boonex staff to consider in future development?
If not, what is the criteria to be able to do this as I feel I raise quite a few valid bugs/issues with the software only to go unoticed in this forum.
Thanks

i have forum installed they are working fine apart from i cannot compile forums properly with my own template.
by saying cannot compile properly i mean it does compile but [[ L ]] sign stays there.
I had this problem, deleting the following before recompiling forum languages resolved for me:-
/classes/en
/js/en
/layout/base_en
/layout/uni_en
/layout{any other custom languages/templates_en}
Replace 'en' with the language you use on your website.

Maybe you should un-install the orca module and re-install it. |
tried that. nothing happenes.
thried uninstalling all the modules. get new copy of modules from boonex.
then install... no change

Since you are having issues with your language compiling also, try going int your Admin Panel and disable all caching in these locations:
Advanced Settings> Other = DB Cache and Enable Page Block Caching
Advanced Settings> Template = Enable cache for HTML files:, Enable cache for CSS files:, Enable cache for JS files, and Enable compression for JS/CSS files(cache should be enabled):
Once you have done this.. Clear your /cache (except .htaccess) and /cache_public directories. The go to manage forums and try to compile the language. You will have to refresh the forums page to see the changes. Then try going into the groups forums and see what happens.

@zarcon

Looking at your site, you have a custom template. If you switch this template back to UNI does everything work properly? (language and group forums) Nothing to see here |
in uni. i can compile properly. but groups forum, event forum and games forum still does not work.
also i can see in phpmyadmin, that forums have been created for each game but are not accessible.

Just checking that when you recompiled the Orca forum that you actually went into the forum as admin and clicked on the "Compile Language:en" link on the right hand side.
To get there you go to the admin panel, click on Modules on the left, click on Orca Forum, select Manage Forum then click on the "Compile Language:en" link.

tried everything in this forum.
any more ideas ?

I uninstalled/reinstalled Forums, Groups, Store, Wall, and Video - this appeared to solve the problem |
