group and forum

I cant figure out why if someone click on forum within a group permission is denied and i can figure out why?

any suggestions

they have to click on the "Join button" in actions area on that groups page to join the group and then they can see that groups forum.  If the person that created the group selected "Post in forums:  Fans only" then they have to join. If they select public then anyone can see forums without joining

This is so weird and so far only appear to be affecting one person/group...
It doesnt matter if you set the setting to public, faves, me only it still doesnt allow them to post in the forum for there own group...
