full-width-columns disaster!

HI

I broke my site again

i installed this module, http://www.boonex.com/m/full-width-columns called full width columns. Eventually it worked but now on the account and profile page everything is bunched up to one side. No matter what I do i can't correct this. All the other pages look great except these two which are properly the most important pages.

I have decided to remove the module unfortunately i don't have the original files :(

where can I get copies of these files......

1) administration/templates/base/pbuilder_cpanel

2) inc/classes/BxDolPageView

3) inc/js/classes/BxDolPageBuilder

yes I know the wise thing to do would have been to back up these original files before replacing them but I never Embarassed

You can download all versions of Dolphin from Boonex.  Which version are you running?

BTW: if it was working and then screwed up on those pages, it is probably something you added to the site before you noticed the screwed up pages.

no it never worked on those pages, it does work on all the other pages except for those 2. There's nothing different added It just decided it would rather crunch itself up to one side and get me mad as hell. I have no idea why those 2 pages refuse to work, i didn't even put the full width on these pages but it seems to have effected all pages.

I have 3 columns on both these pages, the mod says on 3 columns it can mis-align,but I am not using it on these pages but it seems to affect every page regardless

Post a pic of the issue.  That sounds odd to me.

I have that mod and do not have that problem.

Also, post a pic of the page builder with those pages loaded.

You might just need to drag the slider right and then back left to fix it.

Then a little bit of advice...

Make a development site and try out all your mods on it 1st.

Once you are happy, then copy the code to the live site.

I test EVERYTHING on my dev site 1st.

This is profile page.... All over to the left

this is profile page builder, slider is at 100%

This is home page, see the page is full (spread out over full page)

As I said, you can find all the Dolphin download on Boonex.  Just download the zip of your version and you can then recover the files that were changed.

looks like a couple things wrong to me.. but more on css side and page design then the mod, but a mod will only amplify a problem even more.

always always make backups of all files, or at min the ones you modify. :-)

Your site appears to have a responsive template and the issue appears to be occurring when he template attempts to adjust itself.

I tried testing the site with the default UNI template, but that appears to be damaged.

My best guess. A problem with the responsive template.

Seems to be an issue already known with some responsive templates. Check out my posting here:

Nothing to see here

I am not sure if the mod caused it. Try replacing this file "inc/classes/BxDolPageView.php" from the dolphin zip and see if that fix it. If it doesn't, send me your site address.

so much to do....

I managed to make a cosmetic repair by making a image menu across the full length of the screen that wedges open the page to the desired width, i figured this was why my homepage stayed intact and the others didn't. So now i guess i'm sticking that menu into every page

It works wonderfully now I have wedged open the page, going to have some fun with the full width columns now. I love the full columns  it opens new possibilities. BTW for some reason 3 columns doesn't fit quite right but 4 columns works great! go figure lol

Congrats on finding a fix, although not the best fix, as it defeats the purpose of being responsive, as well could cause other issues down the road.

I would strongly suggest to attempt to look for the root cause , as all changes or modifications you do going forward will just be that much harder to figure out what is going on.

I can understand you are wanting your site up and getting things together, although its best to take the time upfront to make sure its right and tidy, as when you start adding lots of members, and other modifications, you will have a tangled web of items on your hands if you have to go in and fix something. (which could then cause your site to be offline and the main issue then, is your member base)

I was just thinking the same think. Probably viewing it on his big screen TV. What happens when someone goes to the site with a limited resolution setting on their monitor?
