email link for invite a friend?

The link sends the person I invite to the homepage but when they try to join, a message comes up that says "registration by invitation only". Shouldn't the link send them to a special join page or something? And also, how do my members invite friends from their page where quick links appears? I don't want guests to be able to invite friends at the bottom of the homepage.

I checked the forums, but it seemed like they were for older versions of dolphin. I don't know if something changed.

The link is supposed to have the user number of the person who sent the invite in it. It's supposed to also set a cookie that allows the person to access the join page.

ahhh. the member has to be logged in. I get it, but how do I remove the link at the bottom of the website, so spammers don't send out random emails? I would like to add "invite a friend" in the member's quick links.

Why would spammers send people links to your website?

I don't know. Maybe if someone gets mad at my company, they could try to ruin it by sending people links and making me look like a spam website.

ok cool. So how would I add a noticeable way for members to invite friends? How do I add a quick link for this?

The script is tellfriend.php located in the root.  If you wish, you can rename this script  You can create a link to it by http://yoursite.tld/tellfriend.php.

how do I mass mail an invitation link with the cookie, using the mass mailer to a large number of emails? The link with the cookie so they can join. My site is invitation only. This way, they can take me out of their spam folder.

I am trying to make it so people have to sign up for the newsletter to receive the link to join.
