clearing my cache trashed my install

Hello all,

I cleared my cache through the button in the admin, and it trashed my install. I searched all the areas here in the forum, but did not find any solution.

Please help. thank you.

hey there, if you cleared your cache and it trashed your install, then clearing the cache is not the problem. the only thing that clearing the cache does is just that, 'clears the cache', so there must be some underlying changes that you were doing that is the cause of trashing your site.

i would say first of all, provide an exact definition of 'trashed my site' and provide a list of what you had done to the site prior to clearing the cache.

Here's what I did.

First, I tried to put google analytics in inc/header.inc.php then I went to see the source if it's really there and it was not there. So I cleared the cache to make sure that it's going to refresh and the code for analytics will show up.

Then, it whacked my install. I then erased the google analytics in inc/header.inc.php. inc/header.inc.php was blank before I put the analytics, so I made it blank too. Then still my website is whacked. Then I cleared the cache again, but still it's out of whacked.

See the screen shot. This is now the second time that it did.  First time, I had to reinstall it, now it did again. I don't want to reinstall it but want to find out what causing it because when my website is gonna be live and fully functional, I can't reinstall it and back to zero.

Yikes!  Who told you to mess around with header.inc.php?  That file is created during the install process, and it's not one you should be playing around with.  You have two options:

1. reinstall Dolphin.

2. See if you can find someone to help you restore the file.

The header.inc.php was blank, and to put it back to blank should put it back to the way it was.

I am pretty sure that it was the cache that trashed it because when I have not cleared the cache, it was still working fine. Only that the analytics does not reflect the change, so I had to clear the cache.

You are mistaken.  header.inc.php is NOT blank.  It contains all the basic site setup info, including database connect settings.

houstonlively, sorry, it was not the header.inc.php, but it was the

/templates/base/_header.html that was blank that I edited, then put but to blank.

That file should not be blank. Try replacing it with a fresh downloaded _header.html file.

I reinstalled a new one. Hopefully, this is now my last install.
