I have seen you posting a lot of help requests here in the forum.

Any CMS in the World has some bugs to be fixed.

The servers, php configurations, apache configurations, RMS configurations, are not all the same.

What I can advice is to ask for help in a nicer way.

Do not pretend an help, just ask for help, as many others do.

Dolphin is a big and complicated CMS.

So it's something like normal to find bugs.

Do not worry, just wait the right help.

There are various programmers working here.

For example I am not able to help you with flash applications, because I am not a flash developer.

But I can help you with php and mysql issues, jquery issues and so on.

As I see the big part of your problems are with the flash applications.

So just wait the right person to be here.

OH YOU ARE HAVING A BAD TIME WITH IT Chill I am not taking side with the boonie's in here but you only pay to remove adverts the script is free and given so with no warranty of use .... but they are not a little company any more and as they allow script to be distributed via free script install on almost all  hosting packages despite the fact that they need quite specialist scripts to run and are more than a little bolt on added extras . the core product is very powerful  but is this most complicated cms i have used while at the same time the back end functionality is  truly 21 century .

if you think the media side is so important to you i suggest you look at other stable  media cmsystems that do not have there roots in a internet dating script..

I would seek out a hosting provider that specializes in dolphin hosting there are some out there .. not quite the same as running it from your own machine but it will be more economical in the long run ....

Chin up any thing that doesnt kill you makes you stronger ..

I have had no issues with Avatars as such...... the only one issue with Avatars but that was of my own making and tried to change them when users had already selected some to use and had issues with other people pictures appearing on the wrong avatars...... I solved it tho.....

Video Comments.... from what I gather they never worked.... and I dont use them!

Video processing.... only video processing I do is via the AV Chat and appart from using a shared server and shared RMS is runs perfectly fine.  I have had some dealing with Rayz as he has made some modifications for me, which I paid for and am totally happy with.

As Yobi says... any product will have some bugs and need patching (just look at Microsoft)

What most people seem to forget is this is an open source product and is free! No charges are made (except on the market place) many of the developers do this in their spare time.

Yes there are things that need fixing, changing but that what 7.1 is aiming to do.....

Oh come on.... your site has 154,000 members.  With that many members, they must love your site.... Right??

I and others have said it before, that it is your home computer, running off a residential Shaw Communications ISP account, which is to blame for your problems; not Dolphin. I have recommended that you invest some actual money into getting proper hosting, but you have refused to do so.

I have mentioned it is a hosting issue as well. It could be a problem with anything along the hosting lines, but it's not dolphin.

It's been proven that on proper hosting, dolphin works.

I cannot test some things on my site as i no longer own a webcam or microphone. But as far as i know, everything else i have tested on my site works. And anything that stopped working in the past has always proven to be my own fault.

It's a good product.

Dolphin is a good product, and its a base foundation for a social networking environment. its not customized to your specific needs, and there are specific hosting requirements prescribed from the developers. if your hosting does not fall into compliance, then indeed you will face issues. those issues however, are not the fault of the script or Boonex.

i know i have found my fair share of issues, and moveover created 10 times as many.

truthfully regret that you felt the overwhelming need to make such a post as you have. hopefully you will try another server, and see if you have any better luck. if you follow the developers server config requirements, I am fairly certain you will realize a totally different outcome.

I've had issues with several of the things you mention, and when I listened to the advice given here - I got them all working. My suggestion would be to try listening to the people offering advice.

Also, noticed that your home page is covered w/ typos and that could be one of your problems. When you drop a typo into coding when you're setting things up - it breaks the code.  .... although if you don't have the hosting setup required for dolphin (esp. the RMS settings, that's what kept video comments & video processing from working on my site for a bit, fixing the RMS made them work), then you're starting off in self-destruct mode.

This is no place for a host that is not schooled in Dolphin.......There are issues but there always seems to be a solution for nearly every problem.  There have been countless people here to help out on everything.  This is a monster of a site.  I can tell you without hesitation if you don't have the right host you might as well pack up and try something else!

I can remember the issues all being solved as soon as I changed hosts to DosDog.

It is clear that issues come and go LIKE the one I am facing now with Video but someone will come forward and solve this issue.

All I can say is how could you possibly ask for more than what is possible with Dolphin at the price it is offered and the people here who go out of their way to help you..........(Most of the time)  I assure you Class Action Lawsuit is not the way to solve your issue's.  I mean really you will be in International Court for years..........by that time Dolphin will be on version 58.0.9

May I suggest you change your title to some thing like I am having issues and I am looking for a new host!

Seriously they charge you money for a license then expect you to pay for tickets to fualty products.

They not only mess up peoples websites with faulty code that refuses to operate as intended they make excuses.

This is not good business practice.

if you do not test your system before you release it and make the community test it for you. it throws ligit websites into chaos.

and we loss users money and peoples patience.

Next version I hope you realize you are not just writing some script.

Like several people have said...the script is free...ALL of it. The only thing you pay for is to remove the Boonex identity from it. You can purchase modules and mods from others as well as most of us have. In order to keep the script free and continue making updates, fixing bugs, and keeping the community going, they have to charge some service or tech fees to help you if you cannot patiently wait. If you knew all of this in the beginning and understood that the script itself is free...and that your site is so business mission critical, maybe you should have considered buying a proprietary CMS package that would come with warranty and support instead of dwelling in the open source world.

Remember...you don't want to work for free any more than these ladies and gentleman do. Don't contribute to ruining a good thing for the rest of us who have understanding and real world experience with the script and open source software.

If Video Comments worked in 7.01, what went wrong and are we able to fix this PRONTO?

I've had all those problems and more, disappearing avatars, users couldn't join, buttons that didn't work, videos that wouldn't
process, video comments were a pain for a bit, and the list goes on.
I could have come in here and ranted and raved about a faulty product, how dare they give me something for free that didn't work right out of the box!

Instead, I just hung around here, the Unity Forums, searching, reading, asking.

The first piece of advice I got was to be sure of my hosting, was even told "exactly" what was needed to run this massive piece of software.
I followed that advice and then some more, again and again I had problems and questions, again and again I got nothing but help and advice.
Now?

My site loads in about 7 seconds,

Video comments work,

Avatars stay put,

Buttons all work,

Users can join,

Videos process in about 5 minutes, ( 30 meg's)

The only problem I can say I have now is trying to get someone else's script to work within a php block of Dolphin,

and guess what, I'm getting nothing but help with that too.

Good luck with that lawsuit, hope you don't get too lonely.

I run lots of Dolphin sites, have my own dedicated server for them as I want to have proper control over all things.

have no problems at all with DOlphin script, in fact I find it works brilliantly for what it is meant to do.

As with all things, has room for improvement and the boonex team are very good at working on constant updates.

Drop the 'lawsuit' though, fix your server and setup first :-)

Dolphin is a very good script. i have used 6.1.6 for 3 years and the few problems i have had i asked and without delay someone came and helped me. Yes that was when support was free. I have just upgraded to 7.5 three days ago. I waited so long because dolphin 7 is not user friendly, what made me dicide to upgrade is i changed hosting and in the process mass mailer stoped working. Fooling around triing to make it work i erased 350 members that was half of my members. I have no income and i been working my web for 3 years day and night. This is my dream to create a stable business. I talk to a representive and they confirmed that i activated the cron for database cleaning, its not dolphins fault. Now i have a problem with the upgrade and its dificult finding the answers to my questions, I understand that BOONEX is a busines and that they need to make money. We all want to make money, but i think that BOONEX needs to make a better way to talk and help, remembering how they were when they started. Now BOONEX is big business triing to squese from wherever they can. its not a bad thing if i had money i would give what ever they asked and more. I understand that your having problems, but with the membership you have your making money. Im sure you have a dollar, what better way to invest than talking to a profescional and getting the help you need. With every contract you have to read the small print.. BOONEX HAS NO SMALL PRINT, CLEARLY SAYS THAT THE SCRIPT IS FREE AND YOUR RESPONSIBILIDAD.. and if you dont have a dollar do like me( HELP SOMEONE .HTACES UPGRADE) http://www.ibiza-swing.com/d7/

Yeah, as much as I have had issues with Dolphin, I would definitely have to side with Boonex on this one & would be happy to sign an affidavit in their favor should such a lawsuit ever get filed.

This is a community effort, albeit flawed sometimes. If you can show me a bug free script of this magnitude, I will kiss your behind. Myspace has millions invested into their social network and it is buggy as hell. Dolphin, for all of its flaws, works.

The money you pay is to have the ads removed. Are they gone?

Dolphin needs a little more than a 386 and windows 3.1.1, you cant run ffmpeg on a 16bit machine, you'll find the 350mb hard drive will fill up fast, and the 16mb ram upgrade just wont cut it.

I find it interesting to see that people state that the OP only paid for the ability to remove licenses, when in fact the question is in the air as to what he/she did/did not pay for.  I do see that the OP is an "Advanced" member which would lead one to believe that he/she has paid for the unlimited license.  In this event, basically the removal of ads is what was paid for, with a few fringe benefits he/she could of gotten for $5 here on Unity.

Had the OP paid for the Prime Package then they would have a case to potentially argue, in that event Boonex would be assuming responsibility for the server as long as he/she permitted the Server Audit to be completed and followed the exact instructions that Boonex gave for it's set up, that Boonex did the install and was given full access to complete the server setup, install and review the entire site. 

However, if he/she were to have made changes to the site after Boonex did their part and the site failed to operate as it should, then liability would at best be limited in regards to Boonex's responsibility.

So, make sure you know what your options are when purchasing your license and have all items set as Boonex recommends.

Now, I'm new here but I can tell you that as we run through our builds we have a D6.1.6 running side by side on a server with a D7.0.5 and both operate smoothly so far.  At this point we only have RMS running for the D6 as we have no need yet to test out/utilize the flash apps on the D7 build.  Many things to do there before D7 will be ready in regards to that for us.

In closing I will say that we enjoy working on D6.1.6 better than D7.0.5 as the code is more friendly to modification for us.  Though the look of D7 is definitely something that we wish we could get D6 to take on.  Maybe someday it will.
