I have recently lost my admin password.. I have just set up the server. But I can't do a "password forgot" because the security image won't load.
I followed the steps from this article but I am still locked out of my admin account. http://www.boonex.com/forums/?action=goto&search=1#topic/Cannot-retrieve-admin-password-.htm
Any help is awesome.
Thanks in advance

This will help you retrieve your 'Admin Password' if you ever happen to loose it and you are not able to reset it from 'forgot password' etc ...
Instructions:-
1) Go to Database via phpMyAdmin then Profiles table. 2) Find the row for admin profile and edit it 3) Password: 2835d734b7f01616bf43efcaa2115504a6231d3a 4) Salt: YjEyNDFk 5) Go to cache folder in dolphin root and remove user1.php
Now you can login with xxxxx as password.

I know you said you tried it ..... BUT try it again! This should work and I don't know why it would not for you ... DedicatedServer4You.com -- BIGGEST Range of Dedicated Servers at the Lowest Price! |
Clear _all_ cache files under /cache, in the off chance you're not user1. If that doesn't work, it suggests something else is causing the login to fail. Check your error logs for any errors with a matching timestamp. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Okay so I followed the post.. but instead of deleting the user1.php I just had to change the password manually and edit it with the same password found in the database. After that it worked perfect :) Thank you guys :D |
While you are back in, I would still like to suggest the password forgot replacement from Denre in the market. I was having a lot of issues resetting members passwords for them. It replaces the standard Dolphin way of doing it and emails the member a link that will automatically log them in and take them to their profie edit page so they can then reset their password. Geeks, making the world a better place |

Deleting it should have worked. It's just a cache file that gets rebuilt when it is deleted.
So if you had to do it that way, that indicates the cache folder is not clearing and rebuilding as it is suppose to meaning the permissions may be incorrect on the folders and files. You will need to get that fixed or you will have more problems.
Finding your own solutions to problems is fine, but when a known valid solution does not work and you had to invent your own to solve it, then you have to suspect something else is wrong.

How do I fix the permissions? The database seems to be unchanged from when I changed my password to what I desired. |

Huh. You said you copied the password from your database. So are you saying it's not what it was?
Anyhow to answer your question the cache folder should... no scratch that. MUST have writable permissions. Mode 777. Once that is checked which you can do in cpanel you would also use cpanel to delete the user file from that cache folder. Make sure it's gone. Then when you refresh your site, the site will create a new one which will contain the password from your database.
