XCache Error var cache was not initialized

Help. Getting these errors from my Cron Daemon once I initialize XCache, and can't figure out why.

I put the errors below, and my settings are attached. Please help. How can I fix this? The site looks like it is running properly, and XCache seems to be working. But I don't see any errors anywhere on why I am being emailed this every minute.

Not a dolphin issue. It's a xcache issue.

Search google for "Warning: xcache_set(): XCache var cache was not initialized properly"

You should find a solution there. But you also need to do what the error message said to do which is to Check php log for actual reason. Without the actual reason, you will not know why. Once you know the actual reason you will be able to narrow down your google search for solutions.

Unfortunately, there is nothing in the log files other than the error message I pasted above.  I tried the fixes on Google, but nothing has worked. 

From what i understand your version of xcache does not work when running from php-cli which is the command line version of php which is what cron uses.

You will have to deal with cron. Some cron setups like in cpanel when a email address is specified it sends everything to your email address which it should not be doing.

You may also try configuring php to not display warnings. Or changing the display errors setting to no which is the default for production environments.

Thats the best your going to be able to do. You could also try upgrading xcache to version. From what i understand the latest version supports CLI.

Or you can drop xcache and switch to APC.

I am trying XCache because APC seems to not be working. Or, at least I think it's APC. I set that up too.

The short of it, is I use Hypernova... and MasterTheme blamed the cache engine for dropped the .css and .js files and the site would randomly get all screwed up and not have any type of "style". I would have to clear the cache manually for it to go back to normal.

After trying extensively to get APC to work, I am going to try XCache to see if that does the same thing. I am really lost on why ,and I don't want to stop using the template because I spent a lot of time configuring www.theblackvault.com to use it.  Unfortunately, it just stops loading the stylesheets, and it displays poorly with no colors etc.

If you have any ideas - I am really open to it. 

I do not have any suggestions. I have had problems with dolphins cache in the past. I no longer trust it so i always run with CSS and JS caching off. So i don't use it.

My only suggestion would be to do the same and pipe the site though cloudflare or other similar service for caching. I have used them in the past. Works quite well, but for what i do it is inconvenient. Clearing the cache through a external service is not as easy as local so for me because i am constantly developing and playing with modules, i have to clear all the time so these types of external services are best suited for completed sites that are no longer under development.

What is strange is that I did turn off the JavaScript and the CSS caching… And it still did the same thing where the site template lost its entire style and all of its colors and all of its layouts! Any ideas?

No. Because with the caching off, that should not happen. So i have no clue.

Try disabling/enabling xCache for php-cli. What OS you're running and what version of php. Is it apache or nginx?

Just to close this out, the problem I was having with the hypernova template is still happening, even with using XCache, so I didn't bother to upgrade.  I switched back to APC and awaiting MasterTheme to have some kind of a fix.

I'll throw it out there on what is happening, maybe someone has an idea.  Hypernova is a template that is customizable. I like it a lot. But, periodically, now happening DAILY, it would appear that the .css files wouldn't load - and the site "style" and colors and layout would get all messed up. The only way to fix it was to login to Dolphin Admin and clear the cache. 

I've tried turning off the css and js caching, that didn't help.  I tried switching cache engines, that didn't help.  

If anyone has any suggestions on what this may be, I'd be forever grateful. 

As much as you would like to believe that xcache, apc cache, memcache, will improve performance we are really talking about milliseconds. Unless you have a large site, and you have highly optimized your server configuration it's usually not worth the time and effort for a small to medium site. IE it's more work than what it's worth.

If you are set on an additional cache method start with apc as it is much easier to install and works well.

I wouldn't bother messing with the others unless you understand xcache or have extra resources available for memcache. Apc is a great start, but I wouldn't go out of my way to install it or any other unless absolutely necessary.
