Worthwhile investment?

If anyone has invested in Moxiemanager (file & image manager addon for TinyMCE), I'm probably not the only one that would appreciate having your assessment.

Even though the license certainly doesn't qualify as cheap, if it actually enhances members experience on my site, it would be worth the investment to me.

To those that have purchased a license: Does this get a  "yea" or "nay" from your members?

I had a look at the plugin and have to say, it looks cool. But what's cool now, will be average in a while and then the real issues become clear again. The problem is that you cannot manage or access your pictures/videos/sounds/files from one location because of the underlaying file structure used for Dolphin. Currently all images are written to one directory, and videos to another, etc. This makes handling files resource intensive (for each file we need to check if it's yours and than deal with the different iconsizes to display). Not only is this resource intensive, it is also wasteful. Since all images are placed in one directory (incl the created icons) you will reach the max file locators for that folder and get errors. Because of the extra icons, even four times faster!

So... if the structure of storing user data can be changed it should not be too hard to build a tinymce plugin that does just that (and maybe even more).

The way I see it, it's just another good looking storage for files, that gives me another source to look for things I uploaded in the past. Lets make it simpler instead of even more complicated.

Thanks for the input. Most all of this stuff is new to me, so I appreciate your viewpoint.

And in case you ever decide to tinker with a streamlined version that easier on resource, I'll keep an eye out on the market place!

There is an integration module in the market, by AndrewP I believe, to integrate the moxi plugin.  You might want to direct some questions to him.  I think his module probably creates a directory for each user of the site.  Some of the image managers, and the moxi one may be like this, is that you can either have it as a separate stand-alone image manager or incorporated as a plugin to TinyMCE.

Geeks, making the world a better place

Integrating the module for tinymce is not that hard (according to their docs). The issue is that you have yet another seperate source to store things. I should be able to select any file I uploaded in the past (if it was a photo/video/sound/etc.) and have it available to use anywhere, like in mails, forum subjects, etc. Not just the images I uploaded to this plugin.

To be able to do this, requires a (much needed) structural change to the core of Dolphin.
