Where's the google search form called from? 3q's

1) Ok, months ago I got tired of the search box lurking around the logo so I tracked down somewhere and I thought rem'd out the call but maybe I deleted it. Anyway, I can't find the stupid thing.  Yes, the injection call is in the sub_header and the correct injection call is in the injection table.  I've spent like 3hrs looking through original files to see what I did, but alas I can't find the missing link pardon the pun. Is there a template call somewhere I'm overlooking?  I simply can't get the search box and button to display in the header again.

2) The next and related question. When I do a search on the actual google page, I do get returns but definitely they are missing a lot of other module data entries.  Where does the google search go to look for the data it displays? And how would one update that code to include additional data fields?

3) It appears that the google search is doing exact matches on words which is odd.  For example, a search using 'computers' will bring up results. Another search using 'comp' displays 0 results. That's not right. Right?

Anyone care to share their knowledge on this particular subject?

for question number 1 - did you by chance change the css to hide the search box - try and check tamplates/base/css/general.css for:

/*+++ System Search Section +++*/

and see if you may have display:none something

Also - did you by chance delete the search section from the database so it wont display?

I have no idea why I didn't just hide it via css but I didn't. I just checked.

It seems like I either remarked out or flat out deleted a section maybe in the member menu or something. Doing so with a mental note not to forget that I'm doing this and lo and behold - I forgot.  Worse, I've forgotten if I did something to forget. Sheesh.

Regarding your question about the sql call.  The service call for the injection is correct.  Is there another data entry in a different table?  I thought it may have something to do with "site_search" but if it does, it's not obvious to me.  Appreciate you thinking on this for me.

if it were me - and this may not even be the correct thing to do, but what I would do - I would make a copy of the templates/base/_header.html and _sub_header.html pages, then upload new copies from a fresh download of the version of dolphin you are using, and see if you get back your search box - then go from there if it reappears. But I gotta ask, are you using a custom template or default template?

Good idea but I've gone through those two files compared to fresh ones and they look the same.  And mine is a custom template. Not too far off the original but I've been goofing around with this for a long time and really didn't document my changes like I should have.

But I think it's something deeper than a html line. It just tickles the back of my mind but I can't remember.  I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the member menu.  Is that where the search is originated from by the user?

I think that's what I need - Where is the form for the input and submit button coming from?

if you are using a custom template - try going back to the default template

OOPS!  Apologies, my touchpad is sensitive and I accidentally clicked the "report" button by mistake.  :(

On to my reply...

That actually was a simple but pseudo genius suggestion haha that it hurts me a little I didn't think to try that. With hopes up, I switched to the uni but alas - it's not showing there either.  But that did help my memory a long just a bit.

I'm pretty sure I modified either the extra menu or the member menu class file so I'm going to go through and compare those to a fresh ones.  I'm a bit mad at myself for not making better notes about what I did or didn't do.

Don't dismiss yourself just yet - if you happen to think of something else to try, let me know.
