What are the "must have" free mods for 7.1 ?

I was just poking around the markets section looking mostly to see if there were any food free mods that everyone was adding.  I just started, but a few caught my eye:

Extended Members block by Modzz

http://www.boonex.com/m/Extended_Members_Block

and Display Random Member by prolaznic

http://www.boonex.com/m/Display_random_members

I was about to download both of these but while in the version block it says "Dolphin 7.1.4 it also says "compatibility not specified".   So how do I know?  I don't want to trash my setup by trying to install something on the wrong version.

Also, as some of you know I am trying to fix a 7.1.4 site.  What are the free mods - other than Deno's tools, that most people have installed on there 7.1 sites.  Are there some "must have" mods I don't know about?

Just contact the developer if you want to get sure.

AntonLV's Cross Member Blocks is a must have on a social netwroking site.  Dolphin's default member blocking is incomplete.  Boonex needs to roll this one into the core.  One of the first things I found when installing Dolphin was that if you blocked someone, you can still visit their content and leave comments.  How that went unfixed until I came along I don't know.

Another is the collapsed replies but that is not on the market; AlexT finally came in after I wouldn't give up and gave a fix for the collapsed replies that so many kept asking about.  He said something about adding it to the core but I don't believe that was ever done.  You have to scroll down the topic until you find the fix.

As for the compatibility thing, look and see if it is compatible for the previous version; the vendor may not have updated the list since the last version was posted.  If you see it is compatible for 7.1.3, then is will most likely work for 7.1.4 since little was changed; or even if it says 7.1.0.  You can look to see if the module changes core files and see what code it changes and if that code is still in the version you want to apply it too.  I use a test site for such things so that you can test without breaking your production site.

Deano's Tools is a must for all the features it gives.

You can add PHP Blocks with Deano's Tools but his free PHP Block allows you do add PHP Blocks on the page builder.  This is another one that should have been rolled into the core and Deano presented a ticket for this but Boonex ignored it.

Thanks @Dately - I will look at those.

Thanks Geek Girl -  I mentioned Deano's tools as one of the must haves - that is basic functionality that I always thought should have been part of the core, along with other mods people have made here.  I don't know why they don't do that.

My sites don't have enough traction yet to worry about blocking - I am still working to get to the level where people want to block each other-  lol.   Good tip on how to check compatibility - thanks.

What about the low cost paid ones?   I wish I had more money to go into that toy store, but I don't.  I'm thinking that "ultimate notifier" - another thing that should be core.  I'm pretty sure that social-accelerator site I showed you would have worked with that.    Are there other free or low cost ones that almost everyone uses, or should use?

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
