 Im looking to set up so I can broadcast from a webcam on my site, with chat room along side it. All members can then view the one cam, maybe be able to broadcast back or not.
How does this work with chat rooms? Would I just setup a room then this would work anyway?
Or - do I need some mod for this? I looked at Rayzzz live cam mod but the streaming quality looks very low, need something higher res. |
That is how the chat room works normally. As long as a membership level has "Use Chat" activated, they can enter the chat room for text and/or video chat. They can access your webcam and see it if they click on the Video icon next to your name in the Users list. Webcam appears in video bar below text bar. Individual webcams can be opened into floating popup window (probably what you are asking for) or full screen. Any member with "Audio/Video Casting" privileges can set up a webcam and make it available for viewing in the chat. You, as Admin, set up these privileges in Admin/Modlues/Flash Apps/A/V Chat/Admin. Click on that to enter the Ray Chat Admin. You will find the Membership Settings icon next to "Whisper." You can determine all chat settings for each membership level you have, including setting for video playing in Messenger. To set chat quality, go to Flash Apps/A/V Chat Settings. Make sure quality is 100 and FPS is 30. Unfortunately, final quality will ultimately be determined by hardware issues, like your site server, internet connection, computer being used, webcam, etc. Video quality is the most prone to problems on any social platform. A different mod may not make a difference unless it is also using a different technology (not flash).
