View IP Address On Profile?

There is an option to display the IP address on profilesת, So that everyone can see it and not just managers?

I want this option for my site.

I could be done easily with a PHP block. But you should seriously reconsider that idea. One of you members could sue you for displaying that kind of information.

I know plenty of sites that do this... for moderators and administrators. I agree, it's a very bad idea to have this information shown for everybody. You'll find yourself with fewer members in the morning after applying such a modification.

Ok. I think i jumped the gun here when i said it could easily be done.

I believe you want to show the IP address of the member who's profile is being viewed. For some reason i was thinking show the IP address of the current logged in user.

If you need to show the IP address of the member who's profile is being viewed then i will have to look into it further.

What version of dolphin are you running?

i want the ip will show on the "General Info" profile. like NEW_ITEM .

This should discourage members not to duplicate or fake profiles and destroy the pleasure of surfing in the site.

Because of where you want it displayed, it will take some time to figure out a way to do it. So i will look into it when and if i have time.

Again. You should not even consider this. For the following reasons.

1) IP addresses do not stay the same. Most IP addresses are dynamically assigned and change from time to time. So it cannot be considered unique to a given member. The same IP address that one member had a month ago could be assigned to another a month later.

2) Publicly viewable IP addresses are a security risk. Hackers love IP addresses because it gives them an address to a computer to attack. Or try to.

3) Some people know the security risks. Thus if they see your displaying their IP address, they will unregister from your site and may even report you to the authorities for publicly displaying information that could pose a security threat. So i don't see this as an improvement to your site. In fact it most likely will hurt your sites future growth and member trust.

Again. I strongly advise you not to do it.

i know all this deano92964 but i have no way or option to stop this terrorists... Opening Fake profiles on my site... this is the only way i see i could fight them.

in my opinion no one to know the memebr IP only admins or moderators so they can take action like baning spamers my IP or PC ID

I thing blocking member by IP is not going to hel to mutch becaue they can get new IP and play with you blocking spamers by PC ID they totally block

this module you have all in the site and from the Deanos Tools... so why to pay for someting you have for free?
