bump.

I have exact same issues and would like a fix for this ?

another issue that even if the messenger is disabled from membership levels etc and 'simple chat' is allowed users still see a 'switch to messenger' link in the 'simple chat' and are able to use the 'video messenger' feature !?

Anyone able to help with this please ??

Because who ever coded this wonderful script decided it would be a good idea to screw with people. Either that or another way to sell an upgraded feature!

This isn't making too much sense really. I've been looking at this the past couple days myself trying to figure out a solution. The video chat button does not appear to have any permission checking for membership actions, the icon in your friends list shows up even if you're not allowed to use the chat. I already removed that.

There's alot more issues with this, but I'll leave that for another post.

In the meantime, maybe someone can step in here an provide a fix.

If I can figure out a solution for this, I'll post it.

I have not tested this thouroughly myself yet. But, you're saying that the standard users can actually use the chat, even though you've disabled it for their membership? If that is the case...wow, what a joke.

I thought hiding the button would have fixed it. At this point, hiding the button is only a temporary bandaid and not a solution. There was a similar issue was also brought about not showing the button ... over 3 years ago:

if you disable 'video messenger' and keep 'simple chat' available members can still access and use 'video messenger' via link in 'simple messenger'

Another issue I have is if both chats are set to upgraded users only >> this means that an upgraded member can only use the chats with other upgraded members !

I think that if a 'upgraded member' wants to chat to a 'standard' member then if should work still on the basis that the 'upgraded member' made the first move etc ...

Another thing I think is a issue is the 'simple chat' and 'video messenger' does not appear available to 'standard' members and therefor making it less likely that they will ever know such services are available if they was to upgrade

This sounds more like custom programming that you need.

I'd just like the basic features to work as advertised....nothing more.
