Chat Roulette is an online chat that pairs strangers from your site together for webcam-based conversations. Visitors to the website begin an online chat (text, audio, and video) with another visitor who is chosen at random. At any point, either user may leave the current chat by initiating another random connection.

One of the most well-known scripts all over the world.

Feel free to test it on my site.

Now some very good news:

- Doesn't need RMS support, that means you will save much funds on video traffic economy;

- Video transfers from user's computer directly to the other user's computer, that means better speed, less delay and more happy users.

New feature: Users can specify their own gender and the gender of the chatting partner.

I agree that this should have been a module update rather than selling it as 2 individual modules  ...

From looking at the product description of both modules, the original does not have the capability to choose the gender.

'New feature: Users can specify their own gender and the gender of the chatting partner.'

Although some may feel that vendors should have no choice but to upgrade their existing products, there are no rules against a developer/vendor adding a separate module listing for the same product, but with additional features whether it's just 1 feature or 20 features. There is also no rules that say they have to upgrade them at all.

In this case, the price for the module is the same for both ($40/$36). In a situation where the 'new' feature cannot be 'disabled' by choice (like in the admin panel), it can give buyers the option to choose the product with or without the feature(s) they want. I am not saying that is the best practice for a vendor, but it is not prohibited.

Another example you could run across is if a vendor created a module that works great in 7.0.x versions but will not work in 7.1.x versions. If 'upgrading' the module make it not work in 7.0.x versions, then anyone with that version cannot buy the module. The vendor can then create a separate market listing for 7.1.x version and have the other one as well. They could also include new features that work with 'new' features in the latest version of Dolphin.

In the example above, do you think that the vendor should 'upgrade' the older version to have the same features as the new version eventhough they will not work? I know it's not the same as your original post but it explains why there can be 2 module listings.

Also, most vendors are willing to work with previous buyers to exchange modules as long as there is no profit loss. Of course that is strictly their choice to do so if they want (not required).

I'm sorry you feel that banning is 'what needs to be done here' but there have been no rules broken that would justify that.

Nothing to see here

A lot of vendors will offer both 7.0.x and 7.1.x modules in the same package which gives you the upgrade for free.  However, vendors are not required to do this.  As Zarcon has stated, you should contact the vendor.  I have had good experiences with Rayz.  I asked about the RMS free version of a module that I had the RMS version and he offered to swap for free the RMS free version for the RMS based one.  I decided RMS was the better way to go.  He was simply going to change the purchased module in my shopping history so I could download the RMS free version.

It is always best to contact a vendor first.  Many are very willing to work with their customers.

Geeks, making the world a better place
