Use mandatory on Avatar against spam?

If i turn on mandatory on Avatar on join fields. How secure is that against spam?

Since they can't upload an avatar until after the join process completes, it's pretty safe. Just make sure you have good spam protection (ie captcha or a good spam mod or at least a human question) and you should be fine...
