Upload avatar disabled but members can with mobile

I have disabled upload (custom) avatar for a membership level.  Double-checked, disabled.

I logged in with my iphone, using the boonex app and uploaded a photo to (mynickname)'s photos.

Now that photo shows as my avatar and when I log in via my computer and go to avatars, it's shown there in the "choose avatars" / "my avatars" section.

This is a school site and the upload avatar action was disabled for privacy reasons.

Alex has issued a ticket on this but I think we need to revisit your set up to see how things are working.

Dolphin is designed for there to be a member avatar, even if you don't install the avatar module.  Dolphin will use the profile photo as the avatar if the avatar module is not installed.  For what you want to accomplish you need the avatar module install.  Now you need to go into your admin and got to advance settings and under Profile make sure that Member thumb, and  Member thumb icon are set to use Avatar; I am assuming you want the grey heads for the avatars.

Now the (mynickname)'s photos and profile photos are the same album, so a little confused by your mentioning of uploading a photo appeared in the profile photos, it is suppose to.  Now I am unsure about the profile photo being added to avatars; you could try to set up the same on the Boonex demo site but you only have 30 minutes to test things out and someone else may be playing on the site as well.  I don't have time to play with this at the moment.

Now there is a bug in Dolphin that I could not get Alex to understand and I don't have time to do a lot of screenshots and I can not take screenshots of the demo database anyway so that means doing so on a test site.  The bug is that the profile photo album will be set to PUBLIC no matter what.  What this means is that the members profile album is set to public view when it is created.  That could be an issue on your site.  Normally when you create an album, you can set the privacy level.  For the profile photo album, it is created automatically and the privacy is set to public even if the Public Group is disabled.  You will have to hack the code to change this or tell each one of your members to change the privacy setting after the album is created.

These are indeed the settings that I have.  Members can choose an avatar, but I have unchecked "upload avatar" in actions for that membership level.  When logged in on a computer, they can choose an avatar but the upload avatar block does not display.

yes, uploading a photo via my iphone to the profile photo album added the photo in the avatar box as well as the album, and the photo was immediately displayed as the avatar.  There were 2 "fave avatars" (not sure what to call them) chosen from the complete list and the photo was there as the third.

Hopefully I will have time to test on the demo site tomorrow.

I noticed also, and don't agree with the photos being shown as public on the home page block either.  At least, when you click on them, you will see "private."

Thanks for your reply.

Actually this is another problem, which was discussed in another thread.

The bug is that the profile photo album will be set to PUBLIC no matter what.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
