Upgrading From 7.1.2-7.1.3

I'm  new to this Dolphin procedure but judging by the Upgrade Instructions from 7.1.2 to 7.1.3 the upgrade process does seem a little clunky.

Am I to assume that by 'replacing all old files' the mods purchased from the market would then be broken until we drop back and change all the files that need code alterations all over again; or, even worse, have to wait until each mod has passed the new 7.1.3 compatability test first?

Some of these vendors that I've been observing have only just got around to passing the 7.1.2 compatability test.

If this is the case, and we want all our purchased mods to work, should we hold off with the upgrade?

I don't really want to start breaking things before we even get started. Undecided

I may have gone some way to answering this myself by checking through the upgrade file structure vs the notes on files I've changed.

So far, it seems only Searchable Fields might be affected on

inc/classes/BxDolPFM.php
inc/classes/BxDolProfileFields.php

I have a couple more mods that I'm thinking about installing; referrals and points. I'll add them to the stable 7.1.2 version and see what I have to change there. Then compare those files with the patch file structure.

Luckily I don't have to worry about messing things up for thousands of members, but this could prove more challenging further down the road.

It is a process of waiting once the upgrade comes out!  It takes the developers time if ever for them to make their mods work with the new upgrade.  It is important to use reliable stable developers and wait weeks once the upgrade is released for them to make the proper changes to a mod you added.  If no new mods you can do it immediately.  You learn this the longer you are here.  Or upgrade and parts just won't work until the developer makes the new adjustments and you then upgrade that mod...
