Upgrade question 7.09 to 7.1

7.1I am finally getting around to upgrading an old - but important, site from 7.09 to 7.1x.   It was a disaster last time, and I am not sure it is going all that much better this time.   I have followed the instructions like a cookbook and ran the 7.09 to 7.1 script with no apparent errors.   It didn't do what I have seen these upgrade scripts do in the past though - where you have a number of file permissions you need to change, etc.   The last instruction I got was "Proceed to apply 7.1.0.B2 patch".    What does that mean?   Can't I go directly to the 7.1.1 patch?   Please advice, I would really like to get through this to see how much damage I have done.   

Can anyone help me out - everyone on this forum has gone though this I think.   I thought I was going directly from 7.09 to 7.1.   Is that not the case?   

No. That is not the case. There were a couple of up datable betas that were in the sequence, so all updates as with all previous dolphin versions have to be applied in order.

Oh Deano, I am so glad you are here.   Why on earth did they not put that cumulative patch in the Blog post where they made the 71. final announcement.   I had a disaster last time and was being ultra careful this time.   I did a search and found your comment on another post that we should do this query:

SELECT `VALUE` FROM `sys_options` WHERE `Name`='sys_tmp_version'

I did this and got:

7.1.0.B1

Could you tell me the exact link to what I need to download.   Now that I have done this, I can no longer to the cumulative patch, right?  

Incorrect. You can install the cumulative.

It has all of the patches. When you go to install them you will simply find you can't install the B1 patch because it was already done.

In there is this line.

Dolphin 7.1 is available for download via our Start page. Upgrade instructions and scripts are available for those upgrading from 7.0.9 or from 7.1.0.b2.

The first link upgrading from 7.0.9 is the link that contains the Cumulative update in step 4.

So it was there.

We should have a sticky in the 7.1 Forum, Upgrading your 7.0.9 or a red banner somewhere.  Could save some heartaches.
