Tracking of new members?

I get 2+ New members per day. I'm running Google AdWords, do OK in the search engines, and have Twitter and Facebook; so I'd like to see where my new members are coming from. Is there a module that can track not just the traffic (analytics does that) but the new members?

I don't think I have seen anything about referrals in the Market or Dolphin.

It doesn't need to be a referral system. It could be as simple as a text block on the join page that would automatically populate a spreadsheet.

so - are you looking for something that shows who came from your facebook, or who came from your twitter feed? If so, you could make a link like mysite.com/?facebook=y and then on your home page you could get the ip address and that variable and track it that way. I am just throwing this out there as a possible example to get a better understanding of what exactly you are looking for. You could even go so far as to put a php block that has specific info for those users (ie. "I see you came from my facebook page.....")

Yes, you could just ask new members where they heard about you.  However, a referral system would be nice.  The CMS I help work on has such a referral system in the STATS section of the admin.  We can see such things as search terms that were used to reach one's site as well as referral links that link to our site.  It also tracks direct browser hits where users came to our site by typing the site address directly.  It also tracks robots that come to the site so we can see what is crawling our pages.  As far as I know, there is no market mod for this and I don't think Dolphin does it as well.

In cPanel there's a script call awstats.

That will show you what you need.

I'm not sure if awstats could be integrated into the admin panel of dolphin or not.

There is a module for webmin as well although I not added it.  Still, a stats panel for Dolphin would be nice.

Yes geekgirl, a stats panel would be nice.  Google Analytics provides some good info, but it doesn't say where the joiners come from, only where the visitors come from.

The only way would be to track referring links to your join form.  When someone clicks on a join form link on a referring site, that would be recorded to you.

On your join form, add a field; "How did you find us?" or something like that.  Don't make it mandatory as that may put some people off on joining your site.  The ones that do answer will give you some indication on how they came to find your site.
