Everyday, I see people posting some kind of problem, and when asked what version of Dolphin they are running, they answer something other than the latest version.
Those of you that are NOT running the latest version, currently 7.0.4, should do yourself a big favor and just upgrade. By posting problems you are having with earlier versions, you are wasting everyone's time, including your own. There have been a large number of bug fixes in the last few versions, and to continue to run an earlier version of Dolphin 7 is just plain foolishness.
Everybody that helps out here, including Boonex staff, doesn't have an unlimited amount of time on their hands, and they have better things to do, than to try to solve the problems you are having with a six month old version of Dolphin. If you insist on running an earlier version, at least state what version you are running when you have a problem, so everyone can not waste their time replying to questions. Grow a pair, get the lead out of your ass, download the latest patches, and show some initiative. If you want to be a webmaster, start acting like one.

Lol HL, I agree. Upgrading to the latest version is better. I have just one more site to upgrade to 7.0.4
Upgrading is a pain in the *ss with a modified site lol. Lucky I can upgrade my sites myself.
|
yes I can upgrade my sites to, but there are sometimes problems who destroy all content. So sometmes is better to stay on a working version. :D Kids first |

well the new versions are better than older ones.. thats why they are released...
and if you are scared to messing your site up... you should not make a site..
thats how you will learn...
and there is an option called BACKUP. which everyone else does before upgrade... TRY THAT .. it works..

the thing is that many people have their site heavily modified and thus upgrade is either really pain in the ass or have to pay for upgrade and this is many of people want avoid :-). D7 is not stable enough to use for live sites by my opinion - Im personally waiting over year for 7.1 - mainly for reason that alot of modules that are not supplied by default with d7 like credit system, affiliates, subscription etc will be most probably included in 7.1 thus upgrade process to higher version will be simplified and also money for that modules will be saved :-) |
I agree... what the hecks with using an OLD version anyways?
...ummm... am I missing something - maybe i should 'downgrade?"

There have been approximately 175 tickets closed in the last two releases of Dolphin 7.
Anybody that doesn't upgrade because it's "Too much work" should find some other 'hobby'.

HL, you are for sure the type of guy who is changing his car for a new one every times that the ashtray is full... :-))

houstonlively... you should really sit back and take a minute to understand something...
not all of us are capable of spending the money to upgrade every time a new version comes out. At the same time, not all of us completely understand how to do upgrades or other mods w/o asking for help.
Why are you so frustrated lately? People make mistakes and sometimes need help.

First of all, upgrades are free, and being able to install and upgrade the Dolphin 7 platform is something you should learn how to do. All it takes it a little bit of ambition. Being self-sufficient, and not having to rely on others for every little thing that pops up, it a wonderful place to be. A place you will never get to, if you don't show some ambition, and take the required steps to get there.
I am not frustrated. Perhaps you meant to use the word annoyed. Annoyed is how I get, when people have no ambition, and want to be spoon fed. Annoyed is how I get when people are unwilling to learn something as simple as uploading a few files, and running an upgrade script. Complaining that you just can't afford to spend the money is just another excuse to do nothing. The last time I looked, downloading D7 upgrade scripts was free... so is uploading them to your site and executing them. So don't tell me you can't afford to spend the money to upgrade every time a new version comes out, because it doesn't cost a dime.
Don't get me wrong... I don't give two shits if you upgrade to the latest version, or not. I'm just saying don't waste peoples time complaining about things not working right, if you can't take a few simple steps on your own behalf.
177
Anybody know the significance of that number?

177 is now the amount of tickets closed in the last two releases of Dolphin 7.
Is that good start to growing a pair, getting the lead out of my ass, overcoming being self-sufficient, unwilling to learn something simple, complaining, and showing ambition?
Wait... EPIC FAIL! I have to download the latest patches and learn how to run an upgrade script!
I'll get back to you and let you know my progress

I see some motivation.. Go for it.. LOL
I do agree with HL somewhat on this issue. If you don't want to upgrade or do not know how to, then either try to learn how to or when posting an issue, state what version you are currently using.. |

Now that's the spirit! Don't come back until you have successfully completed that task.
