Texting sms

Hello is there a module out there that can send txt messages (sms) to members ?

Yes there is: http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Send-SMS-from-member-Profile.htm Scroll down and download the LAST mts.zip folder that you can find. I had made some changes and uploaded a new version. I dont want you to download the original cause it has mistakes.

no code changes at all - you can also separate sending and receiving capabilities per membership level. Example - if you want membership level A to be able to send SMS, but not receive, and membership B to receive and not send - you can do that as well.

ok, interesting, on the receiving end, what appears as number ?? caller ID

Please keep in mind that when sending a text message the way I have set things up is using an email address that is associated with your carrier and phone number. So, you are not actually sending or receiving a text message, but actually an email that is redirected to your phone by your carrier. So - what shows as the sending number is determined by the receivers cell carrier.

Can the admin of the site send a bulk sms to all members using allowing sms ?  is this mod easy to install, what is the price of this module ?

It is free, as in what beer should be; if you like beer which I don't.  You could offer Professor a tall glass of his favourite beverage as thanks.

As GG stated, it is free. Just simply download the mts.zip file, extract, then upload to the modules folder in your dolphin site. It will appear in your uninstalled modules. Install like any other module.

As of right now - No - the site admin can not send a mass sms message to the site members. Great idea though. I will put it on my add-ons list.

I found the file, I used the last one at the bottom, is it normal I dont see canadian carriers in the list

I only used the carriers that I was able to test and make sure worked. There is a list of carriers in the forums that should have all - if not most of - the carriers around the world
