Is it possible to set the members blocks transparent and not effect the rest of the site? Before I mess with my css files, was hoping for a quick yes or no..lol

It can be done, but you would need to assign a new page block style to the block and create a new page block template. Using this method, all blocks on a page could have a different color theme.
