Subscription Service not working

I subscribed to a forum on my site. when someone posts, I receive no email notification. When I check my subscriptions, I see only my profile and admin mass email as what I am subscribed. I have several members that I also subscribe to their profiles and they do not show as being subscribed to, either. I am still unfamiliar with the Dolphin's power, I have no idea how this could be happening. Any suggestions.
