Subscribing to Group

What happens when a person subscribes to a group as opposed to joining it?

If a member subscribes to a group they will receive notification emails that someone has posted something new to the group. Example a new forum post. They can also subscribe to each post and if some responds to that post they will get a notification. This is a good way to see when someone responds to a post that they have made.

As far as being a fan, then if the moderator sends out a broadcast they will receive a message. Also in groups, fans can be given certain rights to activities, like reading posts, making posts, editing posts, etc. You can have it that members can read posts but they need to be fans to write posts. If Groups are private groups, then a member must become a fan to join. Then they must be approved by the moderator to even view the groups messages or posts.

I have issues with the subscription part. I am subscribed to several groups posts that posts have been made and I did not receive notifications through my email. I am testing, now. You may have to be subscribed to the group to subscribe to the posts. The RSS of groups forum posts does work, I receive RSS that a new post has been made through the RSS feature to my desktop.
