How do I set it up so that a standard can receive emails but cannot actually read them until they upgrade to paid membership?
I have looked into the member permissions but can't seem to get it to work.

Ok, I have to ask. How come you want to let them receive emails, then block them from reading them? Why not just promote the email service as part of a paid membership only? http://towtalk.net ... Hosted by Zarconia.net! |
I would be happy to stop them receiving the emails if that was possible but I can't even seem to do that. |
Profesize, Unfortunately, I don't think it is possible to block mail from non-upgraded. This has been a problem I've tried to solve as well. You can use the permission settings to block standard members from sending mail. The problem is that when a real member sends a mail to the standard member first, the standard member then has complete access to mail back and forth. I'm sure it isn't supposed to work this way, no allowance to use the mail functions should mean no allowance, however, this is not the case. The only work around I've found is to threaten paid members with banning if I find that they are initiating mail with standard members. |
