Sounds not processed help please?

Hi

sounds are not being processed when uploaded. All  worked fine until upgrade to 7.1?

Any fixes for this please?

Thanks in advance

first make sure the ffmpeg is chmod 777

second - are you using the RMS that you have installed yourself, if so - make sure to add the domain name to the access file

oh - and also make sure that your cron jobs are working. These are the 3 things i had to fix in order for my videos to work. I dont do sounds, so I am hoping that the same processes work for you.

None of the above worked any other ideas?

Make sure your ffmpeg was replaced when you upgraded/patched.

Our .9 version was about 10MB the new version for 7.1 is 20MB.

Are your videos processing? All media is processed via ffmpeg now, including Youtube thumbnails which I just found out recently..

in the flash folder  flash/modules/mp3/files are you seeing the uploaded files?

They show up as not processed? but are approved

in that case i would bet on your cron jobs or wrong ffmpeg.

in my case with videos i can see the file that was uploaded with a funky name. then after the cron kicked in it made two versions of the video. one with funky name.m4v and another funkyname.wmeb (or something like that). these are the converted files created by ffmpeg. so if you only see a funkyname file and not funkyname.mp3 then i would guess it is one of those two. either cron isnt starting ffmpeg or ffmpeg is wrong.

i think there is a way to manually run your cron job. remame your /periodic/.htaccess to htaccess.txt and then in you browser go to www.yourdomain.com/periodic/cron.php. i think thats how i did it. then rename the htaccess file back to original name.

OK, that shows that the file has uploaded, but not processed.

When processed we get two files one mp3 and one ogg for HTML playback. [edit] if sounds are embedded in another window I have found out even with the HTML5 module, embedded media on same site will revert to old player and when played you will get a third file which will be a *.jpg for the sound thumbnail, from looking at your site you can tell the old music has been played with the older player, hence the "eq" thumbnail. With 7.1 it is a different thumb, even after played, the thumbnail does not change the way it did in 7.0.x

Remove the HTML5 module if installed and re do a sound file and see what happens.

I might add that the sounds module for 7.1 has a default upload limit set at 32MB, since I have a music site with large mixes on it as well this caused me some headache for a couple hours.

Videos have a limit set to in the settings section of both modules.

Can the default upload size for the new sounds module from 32mb to what ever I want via the normal php.ini or is the new sounds module size limits somewhere else?

You must already have it set correct.

The sound file I uploaded, under my account, that is in cueue to process was approx 600MB in size, so that is not your problem.

cron

[edit] I just checked it is still there, waiting..

Did you setup the cron job during Dolphin's installation?  Do you have any emails from the cron about file processing?

I have gone back to an old version of boonex but will try and upgrade again later once things have settled with the software.

Andy, remember, I set your cron jobs correct; and since your upgrade to 7.1.x, audio is also processed via ffmpeg.exe

and when I last left you, I could never get the cron to fire the ffmpeg to process.

Your problem lies with permissions I still think... I've been very busy and you never really got back with me.

[edit] I'm still here...

Did you setup a cron job for Dolphin?  You should receive nightly periodic emails from the cron daemon, which means it's running.  Also make sure ffmpeg.exe has the correct permissions (755 for CGI/FastCGI - 777 for Apache/mod_php).

Also, if you have cPanel for your server, look for the cron job under the advanced settings.

During your install process, you were given your cron statement. Hopefully you copied it to the notepad.

e.g.

* * * * * cd /home/yoursite_folder/public_html/periodic; /usr/local/bin/php -q cron.php
