Social Engine

Has anyone experimented with Social Engine? My biggest need for the social sites I have been developing is deep membership levels with specific network settings. I have been able to accomplish this with social engine with relative ease. I have yet find a solution from Boonex. I have found a couple modules that would allow you to set up specific membership types with specific profile fields. My issue with social engine is the code seems to run very slow so navigation is clumsy. Is there a boonex solution that I am not aware of that exists will allow me to do something identical?

For an example of the depth of membership and network relations, check out http://ejility.net/socialengine

Depending on the profile type you select it will assign you to a network and auto populate the sign up page with fields relative to that profile type. The site is only a development site and not in design yet.

I have three social networks dependent on a solution.

Thanks

I think I would ask myself this;

Would I get the kind of support and hints tips and tricks from social engine as i would from boonex ownwer opporators (webmasters)?

Or just a 90 days support that has NO other help involved such as modifications etc.

I own a social engine, paid 250 for it, had to pay a coder 150 so members could refer others and still it needs work.

After a year, its still no where near what i can do with boonex - and yes - I am removing the social engine and installing the dolphin as it will take everything up about .... fifty notches???!

Social engine sucks because of the amount of the java pages it uses according to a coder - and hence the 3-5 second pageload sometimes.

And THATS an empty page with NO ads!

To be in the worst top ten loading speeds online should be around 2-3 seconds, fast would be around 1-2 seconds and best around 000.5 seconds. (example)

Ever see those little messages that appear on a website that says 'page created in ...333 seconds ?

Speed counts!

And as far as creating pages and blocks ? Nothing compares to dolphin - just my opinion :)

Support is slow - I'll take it with a grain of salt!

Yup, I have. And, there goes under $700 down in the john!

I had both running. My customers chose Dolphin over SocialEngine.

Back to the point... about membership types. Look in Anton's Markets.

Thanks guys. I am not sure if Antons solutions are the answer. Any idea if it would be possible to mix code? I love the membership, network and profile capabilities of social engine but as you said, the code is slow to load. This i know is just because their code writers did not optimize the code. Boonex had a similar issue with 6.0. It is very common. I had the issue with my first sns in 2008.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
