Site going on and off

Is there any body else having this problem?,

I just installed dolphin scripts on my domain chatmilitary.net and I had proven from some of my friends computers and smart phones that the website appears to be down even when on my computer shows is on and also once in a while goes down in my browser and I know is not server error because I have a VPS and I am hosting a couple of websites and they work perfectly fine, can somebody help me out with this issue, thank you in advance.

Nice site.... different!

Just because your on VPS does not mean it's not the issue ... It could very likely be your VPS is not good enough or configured correctly for your Dolphin setup.

Have you checked error logs to see it there is anything that might indicated why this is happening ?

I see you are saying you have a number of sites hosted on same VPS ... you could be hitting your limits and it's possible this is why it would be ON one moment and OFF the next.

are you on VPS or VDS (virtual dedicated) ? ... remember that on VPS you don't have guaranteed resources and will be sharing resources with other VPS clients. This means that it could be the other VPS clients on same physical machine in-fact killing your site at times!

This morning I was playing around with cron jobs and I realized that when I change the configuration the site is on and the down again, but at least I am glad to know that it did open on your browser, please let me know if cron have to do with this issue, thank you for replying.

It is dedicated I have a reseller account from host for web.

I don't think cron job is your issue ... I really think the fact you are on VPS with multi sites hosted on it is the issue due to the reasons I have stated.

If you are indeed on a VDS then I suspect you are hitting your resource limits ...

Thanks you, I will be contacting my hosting provider and I will bring that up to see what they say about it.

I would ask them to confirm that you are indeed on VDS and not VPS ... it does make all the difference!

also check to make sure that you have not used up most of your hard drive space. I used to get the issue a lot when my site would not load, and it was because I was out of drive space from having a lot of sites on my server.

Also, a lot of the posts that I have read in regards to HostForWeb are not good. So, it could be that they just suck at what they are doing and, like was mentioned, do not have things setup properly for a dolphin site

Yes, I have plenty of space I don't think this is the problem right now, as per their service  I can't say anything since they answer to all my tickets really fast, but hey you never know, and like I said earlier I have more sites and they are running just fine, I don't really know what to do anymore to keep it running if you know someone in here that is willing to fix my problem even if I have to pay for the service I will appreciate it but I want this issue to be gone, thank you for your reply.

what is HFW saying about this right now and your current setup ?

Since your IP address answers a ping request, but a ping request to chatmilitary.net, doesn't find the server, you might check all your DNS stuff.

My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees.

Hummm good observation ... I didn't check that!

Still be interested to hear about the current setup and what HFW have to say about this ...

I noticed the same thing. Appears to me to be a DNS issue.

+1 to HL

You have some serious problem here. Check your cloudfare DNS manager for an "A" record

http://network-tools.com/default.asp?prog=express&host=chatmilitary.net

EDIT: Why are there 2 SOA record btw?

so much to do....
Quote · 23 Feb 2014

Yeah I am thinking the same also now! I Have run ping tests myself and HL is right ...

I am surprised HFW did not pick up on this as the OP have obviously been in talks with them about the issues being faced.

@ keep all other information's here in mind for future ref as any / all of the suggestions could become reason for your site not working.

another thing to consider. When did you setup your domain? if it was within the last 24 hours, you may have to wait for propogation to finish. They say it can take up to 48 hours, most times within a few minutes, but i have had times when it has taken 2 days.

I understand all that and I've been taking it into considaration, but the question is why sometimes is working and sometimes is down I think that when there is a DNS issue is down for good.

Close your browser and open your cmd and run this "ipconfig /flushdns". It will clear the DNS cache and then you can ride with us on this boat where it never works.

so much to do....

If it's a new domain registered within the last 24 hrs etc the the domain will still be in the propagation period and therefore your site may work / not be working at different times.

Actually, he did not added a "A" record. Doesn't matter if its new or not.
