Each sitemap item is listed as a function in the sitemap.php in the root. You maybe able to block it by cancelling the function that calls the articles, news and sites. // in front of each line pertaining to the areas you want blocked may work. Back up prior to changes. UE30 sells a sitemap generator for 7.1 which you can choose what gets indexed in Administration.
