Site Compression question

I was working on getting my site ready with SEO stuff and I ran it through a google app and it showed my site as haveing a verry slow connection speed. Matter of fact I had to do it twice since it couldn't bring it up in the time frame it had on it. It gave me a report and it had a lot of compress this and that and some tools to do it with. Was just wanting to here from people here on how they get thier sites to run faster. Didn't think I should start compressing files and such without asking someone.

scott, AlexT wrote a tutorial on optimization options and the variances of caching engines. depending on your hosting service and what options they have available if you are not on a VPS or Dedicated environment. your caching options are in your admin panel admin --> settings --> advanced settings --> template ( a few caching options there) then admin --> settings --> advanced settings --> other ( a couple of caching options there as well)
