Set field visibility based on sex

Hello everyone.. i need to have different fields visible to men and women on the join and profile pages (block visibility determined by the sex).. Is there an out of the box way to do this? or should i use a mod? In case if i should use a mod, i want some suggestions and ur opinions of those mods. any known issues etc? ur experience?

That module handles page blocks, the blocks on a page such as photos, videos, etc.  It won't hide profile items from view on the join form or on the profile edit form.
