They believe the server is down completely. They have to send someone to the server to see why the server is not power on.. I hope I am not losing my data. I don't have the site back up any where else but on the server...

If it's always the server itself then i would suspect a problem with the server itself and request a replacement.

Can I buy my own server then pay someone to set it up for me? the site is very active more than 50 to 150 people join daily. I need something better and something that won't be down. Why do I need to borrow server instead of buy my own?

My dream is to replace FB lol

I know I am serious and very serious.....

a sever is almost the same price from what I am  paying hostforweb now:

Yes, you could buy your own server and a fast pipe to the internet.  Or you can buy the server and rent space in a datacentre to handle the network connections.  Or you can rent both.

You do need to have off-site backups; or at least off-server.  You don't need to back up the whole site each time, just back up new data so that you are not consuming a lot of bandwidth if you have to do it through the font-end nic.  Some datacentres will allow you to backup to another server using the back-end nic without it counting towards your bandwidth fees.

After 7 to 9 hours server back online.. with no explanation.... Hmmmm.

I want to buy my own server I already have Solar panel system on my house with 14  6Volt solar panel batteries and 12000 watt inverter.  plus a Diesel Generator  with 6000 watt. I believe I have enough power to handle 20 servers and enough power for another 30 years.

How much do you think a great server will cost me with everything? I mean rent a space, Network connections, backups and bandwidth?

Glad to hear the server is back online.  I would see about getting backups of your site off the server so you have them in a safe place.

The number of cores is going to make a different; I don't know the CPU.  It varies among the centres.  You want a good reliable company with telephone numbers for support as well as online chat.  What kind of set up do you need; managed servers are going to add a lot to the cost.

I believe hostforweb service is great...just 10 to 15 second to talk or chat live with  a human being.. this is why I keep them for so long..

I like the idea that I can talk to a human being or chat live . Despite of that I can't accept the idea about the  server  down so often.

I hope my next host provider have human to talk  or chat live.

to rent you half a rack in a data center in most cases cost MORE than renting a server.. remember you are getting power, and the pipe, and the physical space.. far as doing it at your house, You probably wont be about to get a fast enough pipe up and down at you house and if you did the cost would be ALOT. Not to mention you will be redundant power backups and storage backups for your drives.

I love the people over at HFW I have always been able to talk to someone when I have had issues. I have had many convos with the manager max j. over there. They do know Dolphin and alot of times will go out of their way to help you and do things for you that other hosting company's would just say "sorry you are on your own there". They are not greedy like the other hosting company's around, like I have said before they will give anyone free RMS hosting.

I would call the company and talk to someone and tell them your server is going down way too often.  It could be hardware related.  You may want to request a new server; if they use the exact server you are using now, it will be as simple as installing your hard drives in the new server and booting since nothing will have changed.  Or, back up your database and site files if moving and they need to reload the OS on a different box.  Something is broken somewhere or you would not be off line for such long periods of time.

Look at this thread; it talks about intel nics going to sleep.

they installed Flashcoms chat, flashcoms site messenger and even install some of the mods such as game zone, video zone and some other mods for free.

when I had an issue with some mods, I contacted the vendor with no response hostforweb was my second choice. They never ask for extra money. they are not greedy .they never complaint and they will check any problem and spent more than 2 days trying to fix it for me even when that weren't their problem on first place...

my only problem the server has been down too many time. The server back online just 1 hour ago. 23 new members join plus more than 600 pictures upload by members..

Yeah like I said,, they are awesome like that

Just contact them and tell them to look into it, it is probably a hardware issue they will sort it and might just need to move you over to a different box.
