Serve static content from a cookieless domain?

Is it possible to serve static images from the base & custom templates from a cookieless domain?  If so, how would I implement this on my site?  Also, it would be nice if there was an option to do this from the Admin > Templates section of the site.  For example, there would be a checkmark for "serve static content from a cookieless domain".   Once you checked this, there would be a field to enter the new domain and the location of the template.

It can be done. It requires manually editing files to point to the new domain. When editing the php files, you can often use a new variable in the inc/header.inc.php file to point to the domain making it easy to change the domain. For css files, you just have to hard code the new URLs.
