Renaming username

Hi

I hope someone can clarify this and help me out.

I have a member who happend to be a couple. The wanted to change there username so I changed it for them and all seemed well untill they looked at the extended view of profiles. There it shows the new username and also the old username in a second column with the number 2 in brackets i.e. username(2). I have noticed all the couples profiles have the number 2 in brackets so i guess it is something to do with the fact it is a couples profile and this is the second person.

Is this because they have a couples profile and the second username is to identify that person with an individual username?

I cant find anywhere to change/delete the unwanted username.

I've tried renaming the username again but it is only the new name that changer i.e. the original name is still there in extended view.

I would be greatfull to anyone who can shed light on this for me.

Kind regards

GD

The couples profiles is an half-arsed implementation for handling couples on a site.  There needs to be a much better solution but that might not come.

As you have found out, you can only change the user name for the first person as the username{2} is added by the system.  To correct the problem, you will need to edit the second person of the couple's user name in the database.  In case of an oops, back up the profiles table before making any changes.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated

I did find by accident that in the dolph temp folder a list of profiles. I found the one I wanted and changed parameters I needed then saved it. That did the trick.

Changing in the temp folder is not a proper solution, this will get overwritten when you clear cache. Look at the ID number in the file you found in the temp folder then go to the Profiles table and change the Nickname for that ID number. Afterwards you clear cache to refresh the temp folder.

OK, now you have two people telling you to change it in the Profiles table.  If you are unsure of how to work directly on the database, let us know.
